The latest episode of the Outfoxed podcast by Hunter.io features Stefano Ferrara, co-founder and COO of VenturOS.
Stefano shares how 15 years in enterprise tech sales at Gartner, Cisco, and AppDynamics shaped his understanding of trust-based selling — and why he's now applying the opposite playbook to build a freemium product for solo founders and vibe coders. He explains why PLG and SLG are stages rather than rivals, how you have to choose 60/40 one way or the other to avoid constant internal friction, and what happened when he followed a Silicon Valley sales cadence too literally in Dubai and got screamed at by a VP across an open floor.
This episode covers the real tensions between product-led and sales-led growth, how trust operates differently across cultures and customer sizes, and what makes email outreach work or fail — including a teardown of two real emails that both missed the mark.
Podcast Episode Highlights:
- Why PLG earns you the meeting and SLG closes the deal, and how the two coexist as stages
- The three levers of trust (product, company, person) and how your customer determines which ones you need to pull hardest
- How VenturOS went from first idea to MVP in three months and landed hundreds of users organically
- Why bolting freemium onto an existing product almost never works
- A live teardown of two emails and the mistake that both of them made
